Samsung has finally gotten the Note series back on track after the fall out with the Note 7 with the launch of the new “SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 8”.If you take a look at it you can see that it has the same design with the galaxy S8 and S8 Plus, but don’t let that fool you the Note 8 brings several new layers of polish that helps the handset stand a step above its older brothers.

In the area of design the Note 8 has curved edges to the left and right side of the displays as well as on the rear.It comes with a slightly thicker and wider design, despite containing an even larger display offered with the S8 family which may be its strongest weapon to fight the rumoured iPhone 8 and new Google Pixel phones.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is bigger than ever, literally it sports a 6.3-inch QuadHD+ AMOLED Infinity Display of resolution 1440×2960 and it uses a 18.5:9 aspect ratio to deliver incredibly large real estate for a phone this size. Like the S8, the Note 8 is HDR certified by the 4K Alliance, but the actual amount of HDR content around is still slim.

Another fascinating thing about the Note 8 is its dual camera, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 has dual 12-megapixel rear cameras with optical image stabilization (OIS) on both the f/1.7 wide-angle lens and the f/2.4 telephoto lenses with 2x optical is also equipped with an 8MP Smart auto focus front-facing camera for sharp selfies and video chats.

There is a feature in the camera called the dual capture mode which enables you take two pictures at once.

Internal specs have always been pulled from the top-drawer for the Note series, and that remains true here. The processor will come in two variants, those in the US will have the version that comes with a 64-bit octa-core (2.35 GHz Quad + 1.9 GHz Quad) Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, 10 nm processor, while the global version will come with a 64-bit octa-core (2.3 GHz Quad + 1.7 GHz Quad) Samsung Exynos 8895, 10 nm processor.

As for the internal storage the Note 8 will come with a 6GB Ram with three storage option to choose from which are 64GB,128GB and 256GB.If you feel its not enough it can be expandable with the use of a microSD card.

For the OS it’s a pity that this awesome device will not be running on the newly introduced Android 8.0 Oreo, for now the Note 8 will run on the  Android 7.1.1 Nougat. But the good news is that Google has announced it is working closely with OEM partners to release Oreo by the end of 2017,so hopefully  the Oreo should arrive no later than December 31st.

In addition it comes with the Samsung’s Edge UX software and essentially allows you to set up custom shortcuts of paired apps that can launch into Multi Window with the tap of the shortcut using multiply apps will not be a problem

Turning to connectivity, the Note 8 offers Bluetooth 5.0, USB OTG, Headphones, 3G and 4G,NFC,GPS, WiFi ac, 1024QAM for Quadrature amplitude modulation, and NFC, which combines with MST to offer a multitude of mobile payment options using Samsung Pay.

Sensors on the phone include Compass Magnetometer, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor, Gyroscope and Barometer, fingerprint sensor. The Note 8 is also IP68 dust and water resistance.

The S-Pen makes its glorious return with some cool features such as live message, and it allows you to handwrite a message, add special effects, and save it as an animated GIF that can be shared using any app that supports gifs.

The S-pen also comes with a Pen Up application preloaded in it which allows Note 8 users access to a community of millions of people who love to draw using their Galaxy Note devices.

Some features have been updated, like text translation that can process whole phrases and sentences now instead of just singular words. And for the real note-taker, the Screen Off Memo that activates from standby can now record a hundred pages of editable notes without the need to unlock the device first.

The Note 8 will come in different colours such as black, grey, gold, and blue, for the US market, however, only the grey and black will be on sale.

This is the area I feel Samsung would have done a bit better which is the area of the battery or maybe they are trying to be a little cautious because of the last encounter with the Note 7.According to Samsung the Note 8 will have a battery capacity of 3300mAh which is less of that of the Galaxy S8 plus.

Just in case the Note 8 might note last you throughout the day because of the low battery capacity, you can still get back on track with the fast charging and wireless charging functions so you dont have to worry
