Korean smartphone manufacturer LG has been trying all possible means to outsmart their biggest rival Samsung by making their phones and devices affordable.LG made a loss last year following the disappointing sales of the G5 and V20.

Now LG has taking a bold step by introducing the G6 and it is in a good position to give the Galaxy S8 a run for its money. To cut the long story short the LG G6 is an incredible smartphone that easily holds it own against the best smartphones in the market.

On top of improved design LG finally woke up and made some changes, they ditched some antiquated Android features, like removable batteries, which makes way for modern features like water resistance, and they finally used premium materials, like glass and metal, instead of plastic, with Gorilla Glass 3 on the front, and Gorilla Glass 5 on the back.

Rather than the typical 16:9 aspect ratio seen on almost every other smartphone, LG has opted for an 18:9 ratio display (basically 2:1) that provides a taller panel in a smaller body. The 5.7-inch screen is super sharp, with a 2880 x 1440 resolution and 565 ppi.

There are two camera lenses on the back of the G6, both with 13 megapixels. One boasts a wider-angle lens than the other. The 125-degree wide-angle lens doesn’t have optical image stabilization and it has an f/2.4 aperture, while the 71-degree standard lens has OIS and a far better f/1.8 aperture.

If you’re really all about that wide-angle life, the 5-megapixel front-facing shooter has a wide-angle option as well.

Most people would be disappointed that the LG G6 didn’t come with the latest Snapdragon 835,it will be coming with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor. LG made the decision to use the 821 in order to get the phone on sale quickly, rather than over the summer.

Along with the processor is a 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM and an Adreno 530 GPU, the LG G6 comes equipped with 32GB of storage in most markets, which is expandable by up to 2TB using a microSD card slot

Just like the other flagship phone of 2017,the LG G6 will run on the android 7.0 nougat with LG’s UX 6.0 on top.

The LG G6 is rated with IP68 water and dust resistance, which means it can survive in up to five feet of water for about 30 minutes. It’s fine for accidental drops in the toilet, and even taking pictures under shallow water.

Apart from the Google Pixel phones, the G6 is the only other handset so far to feature Google’s signature AI, the Google Assistant, natively. Assistant uses Google’s vast search database and voice recognition. You can chat with it and look up things like random facts, the news and nearby places.

The US G6 has wireless charging, which adds extra convenience, minimal extra weight and no design changes. However, the Korean and European versions miss out on this handy addition.

The G6 also has a USB-C port for quick charging, as well as wireless charging, which is pretty much standard for flagship Android phones now.

Inside the G6 is a 3,300mAh battery and it comes with Android Nougat’s battery smarts that makes you go a full day without any trouble. Even when connected to a smart watch and battling through a relatively busy day,you will still have about 25 per cent battery remaining.

With Nougat’s enhanced Doze mode, the phone uses as little battery as possible by killing background tasks whenever the phone is in standby.

Even if the phone battery runs out the G6 comes with Quick Charge 3.0 support, that means it can get from 0-50 per cent charge after being plugged in for just 35 minutes.
