HTC mobile phones has really had it tough over the years, after the launch of the HTC ONE back in 2013 they have struggled to stand out in a world dominated by iPhones and Samsung Galaxies, despite generally being pretty good.

Now HTC is trying to make a difference with the all-new U series of smartphones, launched back in January at CES called the HTC U Ultra.

The HTC U Ultra’s sides of the phone are made of aluminum but the main selling point is its glossy, shimmery, curvy coloured glass back which looks like a  jewel, you have a choice of Sapphire Blue and Brilliant Black or White. The phone measures 6.4 by 3.1 by 0.3 inches (HWD) and weighs 6.0 ounces, making it lighter than the similarly sized LG V20 (6.3 by 3.1 by 0.3 inches, 6.6 ounces). You certainly can’t use it comfortably with just one hand, but it is easier to grip than the V20 thanks to its softer edges.

The main display of the HTC U Ultra measures 5.7 inches and offers a QHD resolution (1,440 x 2,560 pixels). The pixel density is 513 ppi. The second display sits above the main display and next to the front camera, with a 1,040 x 160 resolution. It’s extremely crisp, with punchy colours and great viewing angles. The whole front face is made of Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

THE HTC U Ultra will come with a 12-megapixel primary camera “with Ultrapixel 2”, while the 16-megapixel front camera can switch into an Ultrapixel mode for better low-light shots. The rear camera offers laser autofocus and PDAF, There is also optical image stabilisation, a dual-tone LED flash, 4K and 720p/120fps slow motion video recording, and high-res audio capture using four microphones.

Under the hood, the HTC U Ultra comes with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, backed by the Adreno 530 GPU and 4 GB of RAM.As for the internal storage there will be 64GB and 128GB available,if you feel its not enough it can be expandable with the help of a micro SD card of up to 256GB.

The HTC U Ultra HTC will come with Android 7.0 Nougat and its own HTC Sense interface, the Sense Companion is, like other HTC software components, preinstalled as an app.

The HTC U Ultra is a dual SIM (GSM and GSM) smartphone that accepts Nano-SIM and Nano-SIM. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, NFC, USB OTG, 3G and. Sensors on the phone include Compass Magnetometer, Fingerprint sensor, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor and Gyroscope.

Just like how Apple, LeEco, and Motorola made their phones without 3.5mm audio jack,HTC has also taken the same step, the U Ultra will not have a 3.5mm audio jack Instead the audio output is through the USB-C port.

In order to listen to music, you have to use the included USonic USB-C earphones, or attach a pair of Bluetooth headphones.

The HTC U Ultra will be powered by a 3000mAh non removable battery which will provide 26 hours of talk time in 3G/4G networks, and a standby time of up to 13 days.
