Finally the wait is over,Blackberry has officially released another mobile phone with an android OS after the launch of the Blackberry Priv in 2015. Labeled the world’s most secure android smartphone the BlackBerry DTEK50 is slightly reminiscent of Alcatel’s Idol 4, though the BlackBerry device looks to have a more textured back plate.


DTEK50 has a stunning 5.2” full HD display with 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution with a pixel density of 424 ppi, capable of displaying 16 million colors. The screen is made of scratch resistant glass and features a specialized Oleophobic coating to protect against fingerprint smudges.

When we talk about the camera the camera is equipped with a range of professional settings including live colour filters and manual controls.You can capture your awesome moment with the dazzling 13MP auto-focus rear camera.

Let not forget about selfies lovers the DTEK50 is designed to deliver professional looking photos so you can capture the perfect selfie with an 8MP front facing camera with an LED flash.


The BlackBerry DTEK50 is powered by Qualcomm 8952 with 64 bit Quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 and Quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A53 (Snapdragon 617 Octa-Core, 64 bit) also with Adreno 405, 550MHz GPU. The mobile phone come with 3 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage expandable up to 2TB using a microSD.

The DTEk50 will run on the Android 6.0.1  marshmallow without any skins, but will come with a lot of BlackBerry apps pre-installed like the BlackBerry Hub, DTEK, Password Keeper, BBM and BlackBerry Calendar.





The Blackberry DTEK50 has been bumped up with an exciting security feature,the DTEK will automatically monitor your OS and apps and let you know when your privacy could be at risk and how you can take action to improve it.

DTEK also tracks your applications and notifies you when someone is taking pictures or videos without your knowledge, turning your microphone on, sending a text message, or accessing your contacts or location

Other security features include encryption and password keeper.The encryption protects your pictures or bank info from being stolen if you lose your phone while the password keeper helps store all your passwords, log in information and important records.

You also have the Convenience Key which gives you quick access to your most used applications, tasks and more. The Convenience Key is also usable as mute key when on an active call.

The DTEK50 comes with a smart intelligent keyboard designed to learn from you and increase your typing accuracy and speed.

The DTEK50 supports super fast data downloads on 4G LTE. It supports NFC, Bluetooth 4.2, dual-band Wi-Fi, and USB 2.0.





BlackBerry DTEK50 is loaded with a 2610 mAh Li-ion Battery with fast charging Quick Charge 2.0 that charges the battery to 50% in just 51 minutes.

BlackBerry DTEK50 is not yet available in Nigeria but you can pre-order from the United States at a price of $299 and shipping is to commence on August 8 2016.

The Blackberry DTEK50 is expected to be sold from 70,000 to 100,000 Naira when it arrives in Nigeria.
