Sometimes you may need to make an important call and you are low on cash or you have like N10 as your balance this kind of situation can be annoying.The good news is that network providers in Nigeria has made it easy for their customers to borrow credit and paying back on their next recharge.

This offer can be exciting but you must understand that it comes at a price before you can borrow airtime, it depends on how many times you have recharged in a month and how long you have been on the network.

There is also a 10% service fee attached to the amount you borrow which is dependent on the network.The available amount to borrow are ₦50, ₦100, ₦200, ₦500 and ₦1000.

Below are the code to borrow airtime for ETISALAT,MTN,GLO AND AIRTEL

ETISALAT

Borrowing airtime from Etisalat is popularly known as easycredit, easycredit is available to all pre-paid customers and can be used in the same way as normal airtime.

You can borrow N50, N100, N200, N500 and N1,000 and pay back the airtime loan in various ways, including recharge card vouchers or an e-top up. Transferred airtime from other customers apart from borrowed airtime can also be used.

Easycredit isn’t automatically available and you need to ask for it via SMS and USSD ,to find out if you’re eligible for easycredit you dial *665*3#, or by texting STATUS to 665.

To borrow airtime you dial *665*amount #,for example to borrow N100 you dial *665*100# or text “amount” to 665.

Please remember that the new service fee for etisalat is 15% so when you borrow N100 you’ll receive N85.

MTN

For MTN customers borrowing airtime is known as MTN XtraTime, MTN XtraTime allows eligible customers to borrow airtime when their account balance is too low. The airtime received on credit can be used for all chargeable activities on the MTN network.

MTN XtraTime will be available for all active prepaid MTN customers with the following criteria

  • SIM must be prepaid
  • SIM must be registered
  • Customer’s main account balance must be between N0 and N12
  • MTN’s consideration of Customer’s monthly recharge frequency
  • MTN’s consideration of Customer’s average monthly spend
  • Customer must have paid up any previous XtraTime request and the charges associated thereto.

To borrow airtime from MTN, you dial *606# and follow the on-screen instructions.

Customers can then subsequently check eligibility status, request for Airtime (XtraTime), request for Data (XtraByte) and learn more about XtraTime by selecting “Next”.

MTN XtraTime attracts a service charge of 15% of the airtime borrowed so if N100 XtraTime is requested for, a service fee of N15 is first deducted, and the remaining N85 is credited to the customer’s special XtraTime account.

GLO

When borrowing from glo the service is called “BORROW ME CREDIT”  to be able to borrow airtime from Glo you have to be an active Glo prepaid customer for some specific months,and the numbers of months determines how much you can borrow.

Amount

  • 50:if you want to borrow N50 you must have been on the network for 4 months and recharged up to N200
  • 100:if you want to borrow N100 you must have been on the network for 4 months and recharged up to N400
  • 200:if you want to borrow N200 you must have been on the network for 4 months and recharged up to 800
  • 500:if you want to borrow N500 you must have been on the network for 4 months and recharged up to N2000
  • 1000:if you want to borrow N1000 you must have been on the network for 12 months and recharged up to N5000

To borrow airtime from Glo you dial *321# so to borrow N50 you dial *321*50# for N50,it also goes with other denominations.

  • If you borrow N50 you get N42.5
  • If you borrow N100 you get N85
  • If you borrow 200 you get N170
  • If you borrow N500 you get N425
  • If you borrow N1000 you get N850

AIRTEL

For Airtel customers the service that gives their customers additional airtime is called “EXTRA CREDIT” in order to enjoy these benefits Airtel customers must be on the network for at least three months.

The available amounts to borrow on the Airtel network are: ₦25, ₦50, ₦100, ₦200, ₦500 ₦1000 and ₦2000.

To borrow airtime from Airtel, dial *500*amount# for example, dial *500*200# to borrow ₦200.

  • If you borrow N25 you get N20 service fee N5
  • If you borrow N50 you get N42.50 service N7.50
  • If you borrow 100 you get N85 service fee N15
  • If you borrow N200 you get N170 service fee N30
  • If you borrow N500 you get N425 service fee N75
  • If you borrow N1000 you get N850 service fee N150
  • If you borrow 2000 you get N1,700 service fee N300
